Texas Debt Law

Defenses and the statute of limitations

Can a debt lawsuit be dismissed?

Short answer

Yes. Cases are dismissed when the plaintiff can't prove its case, misses deadlines, sues on time-barred debt, fails to appear, or agrees to dismiss as part of a settlement. A dismissal 'with prejudice' means they can't sue on that debt again.
